Tianjin Customs is located in Tianjin, which is the economic center of northern China, an international port and an Eco-city at the same time. Founded in 1861, Tianjin Customs has a time-honored history. This year is the sesquicentennial anniversary of establishing customs in Tianjin. In the past 150 years, Tianjin Customs has witnessed the vicissitude of China in latter-day and modern times. In order to commemorate this special moment, Tianjin Customs held a series of events and received positive responses from the general public.

Located in an important port of north China, Tianjin Customs made great contribution in its nearly 150-year history to modern history of China and development of foreign economic trade since the reform and opening-up. With the constant deepening of China’s opening up and quick development of international trade, Tianjin Customs has gradually developed into a regional Customs office reporting directly to GACC with sea transportation, land transportation, air transportation and mail transportation together. Tianjin Customs controls an area of more than 11,900 square kilometers, coastline of about 100 kilometers, and has 2036 staff members at present.

In the first ten months of 2011, Tianjin Customs handled bill of entry numbered in 2.18 millions, controlled imported and exported goods weighted 104 million tons and valued in around 161.7 billion U.S. dollars.The tax collected is 145.7 billion RMB. These achievements scored by Tianjin Customs are complimented by other brother local customs. Right now, Tianjin Customs plays a very important role in customs control of China.

At present, after the revitalization of Pearl River Delta Region and Yangtze River Delta Region, macro regional economy of China is putting forward actively in north China. Bohai Rim Area has been recognized as the third circle of China’s economic rise. The development and opening up of Binhai New Area brings new historical opportunities for Tianjin, Bohai Rim Area and even the whole regional economic development of China. Besides that, it brings new energy for the development of Tianjin Customs. In such a situation, under the correct leadership of GACC, Tianjin Customs commits to reformation and innovation, tries to establish modern customs management system which links up international customs common regulations, and is the combination of strict supervision and efficient operation. Tianjin Customs tries to use this new system to serve for national economic construction, and to establish equal, orderly, convenient and efficient customs clearance environment.
